Correspondence (Hallentrodelmarkt), is a body of work which takes as its starting point hand painted, antique postcards collected at Berlin flea markets. Large sections of each individual card have been meticulously painted out, often to leave a ghostly pictorial trace of what was once there and in order to highlight a single detail, a tree, a flowerbed or a cloud for instance. What remains, resonates with a form of reduction, a poignant selection which invites the viewer to reimagine the whole and the ways in which we choose to correspond.
