Through a sometimes daring and conflicting material combination, the series Into the magic night, revels in an evocation of the sensual. Bodily, organic forms made out of hand blown glass and unfired clay position themselves alongside, or within, structures which allude to architecture and the city. These works take on the form of characters, each on a unique journey but with a shared appetite for risk and experimentation. The works on paper and card present complex tangents, whilst they also immerse the viewer in the proposition of ambiguous nocturnal escape and activity, they propose a sense of elsewhere, of comfort and safety, a place beyond the realm of the physical.
