Mariannenplatz was the pedestrian square outside my studio window in Berlin when I was in residence at Künstlerhaus Bethanien. Over a period of weeks, passers-by were surreptitiously photographed when they aligned with the painted dried clay balls that were stuck to the glass of the window. It became a playful form of surveillance and a meeting point between interior and exterior territory. The resulting 35 frame edit evokes a quiet yet increasing sense of suspense.
